DraftKings Reaches New Agreement with Colorado Rockies

DraftKings Inc. took a huge leap in the state of Colorado today as it announced a new agreement with the Colorado Rockies. Under the new terms, DraftKings will become the Official Daily Fantasy Operator of the team. It will also become the sports franchise’s first Official Sports Betting operator.

A fantastic debut for DraftKings

Before announcing the deal with Colorado Rockies, DraftKings set its official grand opening date for the DraftKings Sportsbook to 25 September 2020. The sportsbook will be located in Black Hawk, Colorado’s Golden Mardi Gras Casino.

Matt Kalish, the co-founder, and president of DraftKings North America commented on the launch and said that the company is proud to grow its Colorado presence with its latest deal with the Rockies. It is looking forward to opening its newest retail sportsbook in Black Hawk as well.

“In the short span since launching our top-rated mobile sportsbook app in Colorado this past May, Coloradans have proven to be among our most engaged customers, which makes our deepened connection to the state through these collaborations all the more exciting,” he added.

What will the Rockies deal bring to DraftKings?

The sportsbook will be receiving in-stadium branding rights and a license to utilize logos and trademarks of the Rockies. The two partners will also work to develop digital content series which feature the players of Rockies teams. They will also make appearances on “The Sweat” an original program by DraftKings. Other content appearances like live videos and podcasts will also be made available.

Rockies’ Vice President of Corporate Partnerships, Walker Monfort said that the team is thrilled about their new relationship with DraftKings. He said that the new deal will build upon their existing relationship with DraftKings and partnering with the emerging leader of the newly legalized sports betting market will be profitable to both parties.

Meanwhile, DraftKings will be allowed users to bet on its sportsbooks at Mardi Gras Casino starting Friday. The facility will feature 40 televisions, large video boards, and self-service betting kiosks alongside a full-service American sports bar and restaurant.
