Las Vegas Strip Shootings Occur Near Stage Door Casino

A violent crime recently shook the Las Vegas Strip as a drive-by shooting left three people wounded near the Stage Door Casino. According to reports, the occupants of a passing car started firing into the crowd that assembled near the casino’s park lot on Saturday. The lot also witnessed a fight prior to this.

Wounded rushed to the hospital

The three wounded people were rushed to the local hospital and were in a stable condition. According to Metro Police Lt. Frank Humel, the injuries were not life-threatening. The Stage Door Casino is a part of the vintage history of the Strip. It was founded in 1976 and was known as the place Frank Sinatra visited after he performed at Caesars Palace in the 1970s.

This is not the first shooting incident in the area. On Tuesday, another person was shot in the leg after a fight. The shooting occurred near the Aria Resort & Casino. However, the wounded suffered only minor injuries. It occurred during a birthday party for rapper MoneyBagg Yo. He has denied being the target of the incident.

Last weekend, a victim was shot five times during a fight near Paris Las Vegas. Victims of both incidents are currently recovering from their injuries.

The rising number of assaults in the area

On September 9, Las Vegas police fatally wounded a person near the Elvis Presley Boulevard after the 37-year-old man allegedly charged at the police with a knife. Las Vegas Metro Capt. Dori Koren said that the number of aggravated assaults near the Strip area has increased by 29% compared to 2019. By September 2020, there were 308 cases of aggravated assaults according to the Convention Center Area Command of the department. In 2019, this number was 238.

The number of aggravated assaults involving firearms has also increased by 35% compared to the previous year. The police have already made over 1,100 arrests on the Strip and Downtown Las Vegas and seized 64 guns. According to Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo, the rising number of incidents are because of visitors.
