Scientific Games agrees to four-year Slingo licensing deal with Gaming Realms

Scientific Games plans to continue leveraging Slingo for its existing and future real money product line, with the game development company securing a four-year licensing deal with Gaming Realms.

SG to produce more Slingo real money games

The gambling tech firm strengthened its long-standing partnership with Gaming Realms after extending the license over the utility of Slingo mechanics.

Under the terms of the deal, Scientific Games has retained the exclusive rights to develop and release Slingo-branded lottery instant scratch games, terminal generated, and draw-based games.

The renewed agreement also enables SG to carry on with the supply of branded digital lottery titles to its network of operators worldwide.

Scientific Games has utilized Slingo to the full extent since securing the licensing rights in 2000. Over those 20 years, the company has released an array of video slot titles and real money games that revolve around the particular game-play engine.

These Slingo-themed games have achieved commercial success in key gaming markets in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Europe, and North America.

In April, Gaming Realms reported a piece of good news for its investors, announcing that 2021 trading is trending slightly ahead of expectations.

The particular data represents the sustained momentum of the “excellent progress” the company achieved last year amidst the hardships brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group divulged that licensing revenue for the first quarter of the year hit 60 percent ahead of the same period in 2020, with the figure reaching £2.1m (2020: £1.3m).

Key People on the Licensing Deal

Michael Buckley, executive chairman of Gaming Realms, commented on extending their relationship with Scientific Games, which he credited for playing an important role in driving the sales of Slingo products to astronomic figures over the years.

“We are delighted to extend our licensing agreement with Scientific Games, with whom we have worked very closely over the last 20 years,”

“Our collaboration on Slingo lottery products has proven to be very successful to date, with 550 million tickets sold valued at $1.7bn, and we look forward to continuing our work together for the enjoyment of players.”

Liz Johnson, director of lottery licensed properties for Scientific Games, said:

“Players love Slingo. We are excited to have the opportunity to continue innovating more great retail and digital Slingo games to help our lotteries generate funding for their beneficiary programs.”

“Slingo is perfect for extended play instant games, which have increased in sales by 26 percent over the past year, with retail sales of all Slingo branded games up 87 percent from May 2020 to May 2021. The games also include an instant win feature for players to win an instant cash prize.”
