Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment has appointed Haven Pope as chief accounting officer. In this role, he will supervise a “comprehensive” financial reporting and analysis system for the gaming company and its subsidiaries globally “to director encourage future growth and development.”

Pope joins MGE’s leadership team with more than two decades of financial and accounting experience. He most recently served as Caesars Entertainment’s senior director of accounting and internal controls. He oversaw a team of specialists responsible for several centralized accounting tasks across the brand, emphasizing technical accounting, accounting rules, internal controls, and financial reporting.

In addition to this, Pope oversaw strategic economic transformation programs and was responsible for accounting compliance throughout the entertainment resort brand’s many divisions. Pope will lead and manage all external financial reporting, as well as keep a strong economic accounting team that is aligned with MGE’s core principles and corporate identity – “creating, motivating, and retaining outstanding people.”

Pope formerly worked at CarMax, Deloitte & Touche, and Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, gaining “substantial” experience in technical accounting, accounting policies, internal controls, financial reporting, finance transformation, and a variety of financial audits and reporting.

Pope will report directly to Carol Anderson, senior vice president and chief financial officer, and oversee the financial reporting, technical accounting, and corporate accounting teams in his new post. Additionally, he will be “critical” in ensuring a continuous flow of communication between the property’s finance staff, audit committee, and external auditors.

Furthermore, Pope will optimize basic accounting procedures and systems “to increase brand efficiency and correspond to professional accounting standards and best practices in the industry.”
