PokerStars brands enter Greece after Flutter obtains HGC approval

PokerStars has expanded its presence in Greece by acquiring full approval from the Hellenic Gaming Commission for its brands.

Following the license clearance, players in Greece will be able to access Flutter Entertainment subsidiaries such as PokerStars, PokerStars Sports, and PokerStars Casino.

PokerStars now in Greece

The launch followed the receipt of a local license in July last year. It means that players in Greece can now access a variety of PokerStars’ real and play money poker games and tournaments, casino titles, sports betting markets, and promotions via PokerStars.gr and on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices running iOS and Android.

The expansion into Greece follows the poker entity’s announcement earlier this month of an “exclusive collaboration” with Red Bull Racing, which saw the online gambling brand featured on the RB18 and race suits ahead of the 2022 Formula One season.

Both firms indicated that the partnership was made to capitalize on F1’s growing audience as technological developments bolster the service and provide fans with new and creative ways to watch the sport. The alignment will be implemented throughout the brand’s entire product portfolio.

Quotes from the Press Release

“Launching PokerStars in Greece with a complete local license is the culmination of months of effort by teams across the company,” commented Dan Taylor, CEO of Flutter International. “I’d like to thank them all for assisting in the availability of PokerStars’ safe and trusted goods to players in Greece and for contributing to our continued strategy of expanding our business in regulated international countries.”
