The Global Gaming Alliance seeks to increase the bar for player protection

Entain has founded the Global Gaming Alliance, Meta, gaming groups 89Trillion and Habby, and US gambling giant DraftKings to increase standards and strengthen player protection.

Along with advocating for stronger regulations and protections to better protect individuals throughout the gaming industry, the conference addresses shared industry concerns.

Global Gaming Alliance pushes for more player protection

The group of select clients and partners from throughout the gaming industry will be tasked with exchanging ideas, resolving issues, and attempting to unlock value for the broader ecosystem, it is noted. Sophie Platts, head of safer gambling and external affairs at Entain, emphasized that we should all make safer gaming a priority as an industry. Customer safety is critical to sustainability, and by sharing best practices, our organization can help raise standards and effect cultural change across the sector.

The GGA produced a whitepaper titled ‘Responsible Gaming is Everyone’s Business. It urged gaming firms to adhere to best practices in diversity, transparency, and player protection to protect gamers worldwide and those working in the industry. This concluded in a series of best practice suggestions directed at gaming firms, players, and advertisers, intending to demonstrate that as development progresses, “so do the chances to make gaming safe, exciting, and interesting for everyone.”

This includes urging gaming companies to prioritize employee health and diversity and demonstrate their commitment to players by establishing community standards, developing safe gameplay and direct player communication channels, and providing player controls.

Quotes from the Press Release

“The responsible gaming community continues to grow substantially and importantly,” Christine Thurmond, DraftKings’ director of responsible gaming, noted.

“Having a positive relationship with peers is a wonderful source of knowledge sharing, which enables us to continue improving the consumer experience.”
