The advertisement spots sponsored by the Big Two crypto-exchanges, Coinbase and FTX, cost $7 million to $14 million. The ads proved to be an inflection point for US crypto-adoption, with even ‘crossover’ financial trading platform eToro reporting a phenomenal increase in registrations.

Super ‘Crypto’ Bowl

The number of crypto-domain sponsors of the Super Bowl led to marketers branding it as a ‘crypto’ super bowl!

An indicator of the Super Bowl’s overwhelming advertising reach was the servers crashing at Coinbase. This exchange became the second most downloaded app from Apple App Store, a climb up from its 186th place before the Super Bowl advertising campaign.

Coinbase also offered free $15 Bitcoin for new viewers signing up via floating QR Codes on display screens. In addition, a $3m Bitcoin competition was a big draw for already registered users!

The genius idea of sponsoring the world’s biggest sporting event had brought in the money for these crypto exchanges. drew on celebrity player Lebron James to speak about crypto to ‘a younger version of himself,’ for “fortune favors the brave.”

For FTX, this was the first go at sponsoring the Super Bowl. First, Luddite Larry David traced the evolution of tech changes that changed life, finally settling on the FTX app and its positive impact!

Thus far, these companies have been sponsoring other major sports. For example, renamed Staples Center, Los Angeles, at $700m.

For FTX, Tom Brady became the brand ambassador, bringing a new audience from the National Football League.

Stabilizing Crypto Gambling environment

FTX’s cofounder Sam Bankman-Fried, speaking on his company’s Super Bowl sponsorship, said,

“We want to make sure that we’re painting, hopefully, a healthy image of ourselves and the industry… We’re optimistic that we’re going to be able to grow our US business — a lot of that is working with US regulators on bringing new products to market.”

Currently, crypto gambling and crypto sports betting are legal in Wyoming. Other states considering crypto-gambling legislature are New York, Florida, and Colorado.
