The restoration and upgrades that Ocean Casino Resort was completing at its Atlantic City Boardwalk property will see further innovation. The company proposed a new 12,000 square-foot sportsbook venue called The Gallery Bar, Book and Games. This addition is budgeted at $5million, while the entire Project overhaul process would be $7 million.

As General Manager of Bill Callahan says,

“This new venue will enhance the guest experience by providing an unbeatable atmosphere right in the heart of the casino floor.” 

New Ocean Trends

The project will be the first big-budget run for Callahan after assuming office as the top executive last month. Ever since Atlantic City Casino was restructured, multiple holders like NHL Red Wings were operating 50% of the stake. Other players included in this multi-holding are Ilitch Holdings, MLB Detroit Tigers, and Little Caesars pizza chain. The payment breakdown was Ilitch’s giving out $175 million to hold 50-50 positions along with Luxor Capital. Meanwhile, Ocean opened Revel as far back as 2012 for as much as $2.4 billion.

Additionally, Illitch will own and operate MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit. This will be the first such investment away from Detroit. The total investment into this property and its establishment could be well over $75 million. The project is currently running over budget. Over 12 floors of the guest room are yet to be completed, and hence 460 new rooms and suites will be added online.

Ocean continues to read new trends in the industry and open new dining attractions and bring in new owners, suites, rooms, and VIP facilities. Its newest casino would be in December at Serendipity3.

Ocean Casino currently holds a third of nine properties for gross gaming revenue and net revenue ocean, coming up behind Borgata and Hard Rock. However, its gross operating profit capability places it fifth among its peers. Callahan says, “Ocean is dedicated to being the premier gaming destination in the Atlantic City market.“
