Alabama Casino: Operators Reach Multi-Year Deal with AmTote

AmTote International, a subsidiary of 1/ST Technology, has inked a long-term betting arrangement with Birmingham Race Course and VictoryLand, located in Alabama.

According to this multi-year agreement, both facilities will transition from their present totalisator provider to AmTote in April.

The company will start providing 1/ST Technology equipment and services to support both operators’ pari-mutuel betting offerings. In addition to AmTote’s core totalisator technology and related race-day control services, Birmingham Race Course and VictoryLand will also receive retail point-of-sale (POS) betting terminals, self-service betting kiosks, and mobile wagering applications.

Committed to client satisfaction

Keith Johnson, Chief Revenue Officer at 1/ST Technology, expressed his delight and gratitude in a press release. He noted that they are delighted to have won the business of Birmingham Race Course and VictoryLand as new AmTote totalisator customers and are looking forward to collaborating with their teams as they expand their wagering paradigm and technology alongside them. They are looking forward to continuing our relationship with Dr. Benefield and his team in Alabama for years to come. The next-generation AmTote wagering platform will play a key role as 1/ST Technology keeps its focus on its mission to expand opportunities for innovation, new revenue opportunities, and diversification across 1/ST Group’s racing and gaming verticals.

About American Totalisator

The American Totalisator Company, currently known as AmTote International (often abbreviated as AmTote), is a manufacturer of totalisator equipment used to regulate pari-mutuel betting at horse racing, greyhound racing, and jai-alai facilities. The company was formed by Harry L. Straus, who became interested in a more equitable method of calculating and publishing parimutuel betting odds and payouts following an incident at a Maryland racetrack in 1927 in which a horse posted at 12:1 odds won but paid off at 4:1. Straus’ new company put its first piece of equipment at Baltimore’s Pimlico Race Course, which displayed odds and payments on lit boards dubbed “tote boards.” American Totalisator established its first electro-mechanical tote system in 1933 at Arlington Heights, Illinois’s Arlington Park. Strauss patents 2,179,698 issued 11/14/39 and 2,182,875, issued 12/12/39 served as a foundation for AmTote’s emergence as North America’s once-dominant producer of totalizator systems. AmTote has deployed over 800 tote systems worldwide. The original electromechanical devices have been phased out in favor of completely automated systems that allow bettors to place and collect wagers at the same window, self-service betting terminals, Internet and telephone wagering, and “hub” systems that assist simulcast wagering.
