Great Canadian Entertainment

Establishing New Industry Standard for Gaming Entertainment in Canada

The gaming and hotel operator located in Ontario decided to alter its name since it is now concentrating on establishing a new industry standard for gaming entertainment in Canada.

Great Canadian Rewards is a brand-new loyalty rewards program that gives its members the opportunity to earn and redeem rewards at any of the operator’s 12 locations across the province of Ontario.

Members are able to access new rewards, offers, and current balances online, and members may earn rewards even without having to use a real card to do so.

Tony Rodio, the Chief Executive Officer of Great Canadian, said that the new rewards program and brand introduction represent the company’s number one focus, which is to provide its customers with an exceptional gaming and entertainment experience.

The debut comes at a time when Great Canadian is planning to invest in and enhance its casino resorts. These plans include the expansion of Pickering Casino Resort later this year and Casino Woodbine in 2023.

The casino floor at Casino Woodbine is going to be extended, and there will also be a brand new hotel with 400 guest rooms, a theatre with 5,000 seats, and more. The Pickering Casino Resort is going to expand by adding a brand new hotel with 275 rooms, a new entertainment arena with 2,500 seats, and more food choices.

Press Release Statements

Great Canadian COO Matt Anfinson added that diversifying its amenities, which includes adding additional hotels, entertainment venues, and more food and beverage offerings, elevates the guest experience while also making a significant and positive economic impact in the communities in which they operate.

Penn National Gaming has recently changed its name to Penn Entertainment, reflecting the transition of the operator into providing integrated entertainment, sports, and casino content. Great Canadian is not the only company to have recently undergone a rebranding; Penn National Gaming has also done so.

This ‘Entertainment’ branding is becoming more and more of a trend within the business, with gaming titans Flutter and Entain setting the tone with similar moves in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

The trend is expected to continue across the sector. Great Canadian’s rebranding has been said to be in preparation for a future merger or acquisition. CEO Rodio also has a track record of acquiring companies and guiding them through a successful sale, such as he did with Tropicana and Caesars. This is, of course, purely hypothetical.
