Permitting the Negotiation Addressing Sports Betting

This is a rapid reversal from May, when Governor Laura Kelly signed Bill 84, which also permits the negotiation of a new or current gaming compact with tribes in the area addressing sports betting.

These locations will be permitted to launch whenever they are ready. As with other gambling in Kansas, sports betting is owned by the state and administered by the Kansas Lottery. The official launch of sports betting will occur when the Los Angeles Rams meet the Buffalo Bills on the opening day of the NFL regular season.

Local media report that sports betting will be available at the Kansas Star Casino, along with FanDuel and MGM; the Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway, with Barstool and Fox Bet; the Kansas Crossing Casino & Hotel, via Caesars and PointsBet; and the Boot Hill Casino & Hotel, which has agreements with DraftKings and Bally’s.

Achieving Crucial Goals through Accepting Sports Wagering Managements

The acceptance of the sports wagering management contract gets the organization one step closer to achieving this crucial goal.

In addition, they are focusing on the timely launch of the DraftKings mobile platform and the DraftKings retail sports book at Boot Hill Casino in Dodge City, for which the operators have been awarded a one-year temporary license based on their prior success in other jurisdictions.

Legalizing sports betting is a common-sense solution that keeps Kansans’ money in Kansas and drives business to sporting events, casinos, restaurants, and other forms of entertainment, as Governor Laura Kelly said, and she thanked all their partners for working with them to get this done in time for football season.
