NGCB Unveils Financial Results for Winnings this July

The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) released the financial results for licensed operators on Tuesday, revealing that the total gaming win for July reached $1.3 billion. 

It is the seventeenth consecutive month in which gaming win exceeded $1 billion, but a year-over-year comparison for the same period reveals a slight 3.2% decline. Despite a slight decrease year-over-year, last month’s gaming win increased compared to the period preceding the pandemic. In July 2019, the gaming revenue reached $1 billion, compared to $995 million in July 2018.

A breakdown of the results reveals that operators in Clark County earned $1,100,000,000 in gaming revenue last month. A slight decrease of 3.3% is observed compared to the $1.2 billion reported for the same period in 2021. In addition, this July’s gaming revenue did not surpass the $860 million reported for July 2019 before the outbreak.

Downtown Businesses’ Revenue Plunges

The NGCB provided a more detailed breakdown of the gaming win reported by operators in Clark County. Last month, Las Vegas Strip operators reported the highest gaming revenue. 

The total gaming win for Strip operators was $773,4 million, a decrease of 2.4% compared to the $792,6 million reported for the same month in 2017. July was a prosperous month for Strip operators but not for Downtown casinos. Last month, Downtown gambling establishments reported winnings of $60 million, a decrease of 15.6% compared to July 2021.

North Las Vegas operators reported $24.6 million in gaming win, a decrease of nearly 4% compared to last year. Positively, operators on the Boulder Strip won $72.7 million in gaming revenue last month. Compared to July of the previous year, this result represented an increase of 3.6%.

Washoe County gaming licensees reported $94.8 million in gaming win for July. This result represented a slight 5.3% decline compared to the $100 million in gaming wins written for the same period in 2021. Last month, South Lake Tahoe operators reported $31.8 million in gaming win, while Elko County operators reported an increase to $36 million.

According to the NGCB, the state collected $90.4 million in taxes in July 2022 based on gambling operators’ taxable revenues. A decrease of $7.3 million or 7.48% is observed compared to the $97.7 million in taxes collected in July 2021.
