Provisional License Granted for Hacksaw in West Virginia

Monday marked the announcement of the company’s provisional license in West Virginia. This is the first big step in Hacksaw Gaming’s expansion into the increasing regulated gambling market in the United States.

In fact, the company announced its intention to launch in the United States during the first quarter of 2019. The launch is anticipated to be helped by the partnership between the company and Light & Wonder.

Hacksaw’s senior vice president of compliance for North America, Christine Bordeaux, stated that the company’s aggressive growth strategy includes expansion in the United States.

In addition, she clarified that Hacksaw’s devoted team of specialists remains committed to providing unique experiences through the company’s top products.

Marcus Cordes, the chief executive officer of Hacksaw, viewed the recent provisional license as the initial step toward the company’s significant expansion in the country.

He said that the license validates the high caliber of Hacksaw’s content and the compelling experiences it provides. Cordes stated that the West Virginia license follows the company’s licensing in Romania and the Isle of Man earlier this year. Lastly, he noted that the company’s performance this year was outstanding.

The Company’s North American expansion continues

As more states legalize sports betting and casino gaming, this next development is not unexpected. In addition, Hacksaw’s license comes after West Virginia’s licensed gambling operators reported a 60% increase in revenue compared to October of the previous year.

While this is the company’s first license in the United States, it is not the first in North America. Back in May 2022, Ontario, the most populous province in Canada, issued Hacksaw a license. Consequently, Hacksaw signed a contract with Loto-Québec in October.

Under the terms of the agreement, the company pledged to deliver iGaming content to the government-owned corporation. The collaboration allowed Loto-Québec to extend its online casino offerings. On the other side, for Hacksaw, the transaction represented a crucial milestone in the company’s North American expansion goals.
