Business Registration Includes DraftKings

The Director stated that the launch date has not yet been established. As the final step of issuance progresses, this section should be updated accordingly “The Baltimore Sun reported that he remarked. Wednesday, the Maryland SWARC granted ten mobile sports betting licenses. Before these can be launched, there are “many operational prerequisites,” according to Martin, including a controlled demonstration.

According to the Director, three of these ten licensees will not be ready to accept wagers on Wednesday, thus Marylanders will initially be able to choose between Barstool Sportsbook, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars, DraftKings, FanDuel, and PointsBet. The announcement comes two years after Maryland voters approved sports betting in a referendum. It took the state a year to allow casinos to begin accepting in-person sports wagers, while the infrastructure for mobile betting remained to be established.

Mobile Sports Betting Is Set to Launch after the Negotiation

Martin stated that DraftKings and FanDuel have been there for a while and are national leaders, but they are the sports operators, not the license holder, and the reason for the delay in launching mobile betting is that they had to negotiate with the license holders. Prior to September or June, many of these individuals had to create these alliances from scratch “he noted, according to FOX 5

According to fresh projections issued by the Maryland Sports Wagering Commission on Wednesday, analysts expect mobile sports betting would generate $26 million in tax revenue for the state in the first year alone. By the fifth year, they anticipated mobile sports betting to generate close to $100 million.
