Foundation Gaming Group

The Louisiana Gaming Commission has blessed to sell the defunct Diamond Jacks Casino in Bossier City to the company Foundation Gaming, which is based in Mississippi.

The purchase agreement was approved on Thursday, paving the way for a makeover and reopening that will cost close to one hundred and eighty million dollars and, according to the owners, will bring the vacant property back to life.

To Launch $200M Worth Renovation

In the Shreveport-Bossier City market, all other casinos are located on barges; however, Foundation Gaming plans to open its new property no later than December 2024.

When it does, it will be the first land-based casino in the area. The new owners also stated that the company will rebrand the 26-acre property with a new name, which has yet to be determined.

Furthermore, the new owners stated that the current facility will be demolished at the beginning of the following year.

Anticipating to Increase Revenues and Jobs in the Marke

The proposal has received support from a number of legislators, in addition to the endorsement of the Mayor of Bossier City, Thomas Chandler, and the Bossier Parish Police Jury.

State Representative Sam Jenkins, a Democrat whose district includes the casino and who hailed the anticipated increase in tourism and jobs as “welcomed news,” is one of these people. Jenkins represents the district in which the casino is located.

Renovation Project Details Revealed

The Foundation, which already owns and runs the Fitz Casino in Tunica and the WaterView Casino in Vicksburg, Mississippi, has a number of goals in mind for the Bossier City project, one of which is to build a brand-new casino that is 47,000 square feet in size.

The company will also finish renovating the hotel, which has 405 rooms; build a sports betting bar and a 300-seat live entertainment venue, which the owners claim will be a signature amenity of the resort; and include at least three restaurants and two retail shops, in addition to a spa and pool.

Press Release Statements

According to The Times of Shreveport, Guida stated that the current riverboat will be sold and relocated in one of two ways: either by floating down the Red River or by disassembling it and transferring it over land. Since the spring of 2020, Diamond Jacks has been closed. The previous owner, Peninsula Pacific, cited the “unexpected impact” of the Covid-19 pandemic as the reason for the closure.

The resort, which was formerly known as the Isle of Capri when it first started conducting business in 1994, was the first casino to open in the northwest Louisiana region. In place of Peninsula’s original plan to revive Diamond Jacks in Bossier City, the company instead bet the farm on a proposal to use its gaming license to construct a casino resort in St. Tammany Parish, close to Slidell; however, this proposal was ultimately defeated by the local community.
