Strengthening the Commercial Betting 

A hearing request on House Concurrent Resolution 3002 was made by Greg Stemen, a congressman from Fargo, and it was received by the House Judiciary Committee a few days ago. 

The goal of this measure is to change section 25 of article 11 of the Constitution of North Dakota, which currently reads as follows:

With the passage of House Concurrent Resolution 3002, the state of North Dakota would join the ranks of those states that have legalized and regulated commercial sports betting. Stemen emphasized that the existence of a legal and controlled alternative would be necessary in order to prevent the continued growth of the black market. 

Additionally, the advocate for commercial betting stated that North Dakota would benefit greatly from the taxes collected by legalized sports betting. According to the estimates of industry analysts, the state might receive tax revenue of up to $3.5 million from the legalization of sports betting. 

Some people believe that Stemen’s statements make logic, while others continue to aggressively oppose the legalization of sports betting on the grounds that it could lead to an increase in the number of people who have problems with gambling and could encourage fraud in professional sports.
