New York: Bally’s Looks to Compete With Other Casino Giants

Bally's Corporation

Bally’s Corporation is trying to make a deal with Trump Golf Links so that a part of the course can be turned into a casino.

The New York State Gaming Commission just recently started accepting applications and bids for three brand-new casino licenses in the downstate region, and the number of people interested in applying is growing.

The most recent casino operator to submit an application is Bally’s.

Even while the operator’s proposal appears to be good, it will have to compete with other industry heavyweights whose propositions are just as enticing as its own.

The new casino that Bally is planning to open will take up part of the Trump Golf Course at Ferry Point.

According to the designs, the new business will be situated in a highly desirable area of the Bronx and will occupy 17 of the 192 total acres of the course.

The developer and the Trump Organization have already agreed on the terms of a partnership, and the Trump Organization has given its blessing to the $2.5 billion casino project.

If Bally’s is able to get one of the highly sought-after licenses, it will be able to take the name of the previous president off the golf course, which will hopefully keep it from being associated with anything bad.

In an interview with the New York Times, the chairman of Bally’s Corporation, Soo Kim, claimed that the firm was prepared to move forward as soon as it received a license to do so. Even with the preliminary plans, building a casino at Trump Golf Link will be hard for a number of reasons.

Bally’s will need to acquire regulatory approval in order to repurpose the land because the facility is still under lease with the city. Also, the area where the course is built used to be a garbage dump, which could make the construction process harder.

If Bally’s doesn’t get one of the three casino licenses that are now open in New York, all of the other things we’ve talked about will be for nothing.

The operator will have to compete with well-known and successful places like the Empire City Casino and Resorts World New York City, which are both owned by MGM and can easily make improvements to their facilities.

Competition in the New York Gambling Market

Heavyweights in the industry, like Caesars Entertainment and Wynn Resorts, have also shown interest in the property.

At the very least, ten businesses have registered for the competition, each of which has submitted a number of different projects that range in scale and degree of complexity.

For example, Las Vegas Sands, a company that specializes in integrated resorts, recently announced plans to build a brand new integrated casino resort in Nassau County, which is located on western Long Island. While the NYGC has been mum on the subject of the preferred specs for the new casino, Bally’s still has a shot at winning.
