The Bensalem Township Council has given the green light for the Parx Casino Hotel project to build a high-end hotel on Street Road in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

The proposed location for the hotel is in the same general area as the casino. A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for later this year, and it is anticipated that work will be finished in 2025.

11 of the hotel’s 13 floors will be dedicated to guest space, with 300 rooms available for regular stays. The newly constructed hotel will be connected to the already existing casino by a new walkway. In addition to the restaurant on the hotel’s rooftop, there will also be a 300-seat restaurant in the hotel’s lobby.

The eatery will have a display kitchen, in which guest chefs will prepare dishes and conduct guests in various educational demonstrations.

There will be a presidential suite and four other high-end rooms on the rooftop floors. All of these rooms will have unobstructed views of Philadelphia’s skyline. The amenities will also include a coffee shop, in addition to a spa, and a gym.

The hotel’s marquee will just read “Parx Casino Hotel,” and there will be no branding on the property. Each restaurant will have its own in-house offerings and not carry any external brands.

During a presentation to the Bensalem Township Council, John Dixon, the Chief Operating Officer of Parx Casino, said that the 14,000-square-foot banquet hall would be able to hold up to 800 people. This makes it a good place for weddings, business conferences, and small exhibits.

Bensalem Township Council was in attendance. Depending on the requirements of the event, the rooms can be partitioned.

He went on to say that large-scale events would not be a good fit for the hotel and that it would be perfect for local and regional meetings and get-togethers.

Dixon also mentioned that, unlike the casino, guests of the hotel would not be required to be of a certain age to stay there. Because of this, the hotel’s owners would be able to market it to organizations that cater to young people and families.

Parx Deepens Roots in Pennsylvania Gaming Industry

Since its opening on December 19, 2006, as Philadelphia Park, the casino now known as Parx Casino has been a popular destination in the surrounding area. Parx achieved rapid success, bringing in $55.46 million in revenue in January 2023, which was an increase over the revenue total of $51.81 million collected in January 2022.

In Pennsylvania, where gambling is a very lucrative industry, this establishment ranked as the third most profitable casino in the state. In 2022, the 16 casinos in Pennsylvania brought in a total of $5.21 billion, which was an increase from the $4.73 billion they made in 2021.

Bensalem’s $300 Home Assistance Grant is funded in part by revenue from Parx Casino. According to Bensalem Mayor Joe DiGirolamo, the grant will continue to be distributed to homeowners in Bensalem in 2023. Moreover, Parx employs approximately 2,000 people, making it one of the largest employers in Bucks County.
