William Hill And South Point Prepare Drive-Throughs to Accept Bets for UFC 249

UFC 249 will be the biggest sporting event since the coronavirus shutdowns affected both land-based and online sportsbooks. In the wake of the pandemic, several major sporting events were canceled. However, now the situation seems to be coming back to normal at a slow pace.

William and South Point start taking bets

The South Point Hotel Casino and William Hill are now offering drive-through sports betting stations to wagerers who want to participate in the upcoming UFC 249 event. South Point announced on Wednesday that the drive-through service will allow users to sign up for the sports betting app of the casino. Alternatively, they can also make deposits for betting in the valet parking area.

The service will be available between 11 am and 6 pm all through the week. A user must bring a valid photo ID along to use the station.

William Hill also made a similar announcement on Wednesday, saying that it has started accepting sign-ups and deposits at four locations. Their drive-through services are located in Las Vegas’ Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, Arizona Charlie’s Boulder, and Alamo Casino along with the Sierra Sid’s Casino in Sparks.

William Hill stations will be open between 11 am and 5 pm on Friday and Saturday. William Hill US CEO Joe Asher focused on the upcoming event as the reason why they chose to open the service. He said,

“Ahead of the largest sporting events of the month, we wanted a safe way to meet the current demand from our customers. It sure is nice to have some American sports to bet on.”

Biggest event post-pandemic

UFC 249 will be the biggest sporting event in the post-pandemic world. The event will feature an interim lightweight title match between Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson. FanDuel has listed Ferguson as the favorite for this fight.

Other sporting events are also catching up with the trends. NASCAR, for instance, plans on holding its next race at the Darlington Raceway on May 17. It is also looking forward to opting for a full schedule run in 2020. PGA Tour and IndyCar racing are also planning to get back in June. None of these events will have fans. However, they will be available for betting in states where sports wagering has been legalized, at least in mobile and online formats.
