Bolton Wanderers Football Club Stops Betting Facilities

Bolton Wanderers have announced that facilities for online betting would no longer be provided at the stadium. The League One Club has announced that no new sponsorship deals with gambling organizations would be signed. However, the club has stated that the commercial partnerships that already exist would be respected. The football club has taken this decision in response to growing concern over gambling addiction. Club’s Chairman expresses the desire to work against gambling addiction

Sharon Brittan, Chairman of the club has stated that gambling addiction ruins lives and a decision was taken to express support to the affected people. She said that according to the latest research, the United Kingdom has between 340,000 and 1.4 million gambling addicts. She further stated that more than 60,000 young Britons between the ages of 11 and 16 are addicted. She justified the decision of the club by stating that the industry as a whole must do more and the Bolton Wanderers Football Club would work with fans of the club as well as through community outreach programs for people suffering from gambling addiction.

Club’s Chief Executive expresses commitment to work against gambling addiction

Neil Hart, Chief Executive of the club has also expressed unwillingness to engage in further contracts outside the existing contractual requirements in the EFL (English Football League). He asserted his commitment further by stating that no betting kiosks will be provided on match days apart from not entering into new agreements with gambling companies. He added that the club lottery would continue to raise funds to support engagement projects and good causes to support the community.
