Shooting Suspect in Tribal Casino Shooting Sought by Washington State Deputies

The Sheriff’s office in Yamika County is searching for a suspect in response to a shooting in the past week that occurred at the Legend Casino Hotel in the state of Washington. The suspect was identified as Buddy Byron McKenzie on Thursday. The suspect is 41 years old. He is wanted for question in relation to the shooting that took place last Monday. An unnamed woman was shot in the parking lot of the casino/gaming property. The casino is located in the Yakama Indian Reservation that is located in Toppenish. Social media posters claim that he is the ex-boyfriend of the victim.

Details regarding the attack

The woman who was wounded in the attack was first spotted by the security guards at the casino. It was this security personnel who informed the authorities about the attack. The woman was shot in her torso and head. Deputies of the Sheriff’s office provided the necessary first aid before the arrival of the EMTs. The victim was then taken to a local hospital for treatment. As of late last week, the condition of the victim was not known. The incident and the condition of the victim were reported in the Yakima Herald-Republic, a local newspaper that operates in the state. The victim has rejected McKenzie after a relationship. Apparently, this was the cause that led to the shooting. A poster on Facebook has revealed the cause behind the shooting. The victim is a mother who has two children as stated by the post on Facebook.

Casino Violence in Washington State

In another incident that is unrelated to the incident at Yamika County, a thirty-five-year-old man from the state has been charged with domestic violence murder in the second degree. The charge relates to the death of a 33-year-old woman in October 2020 who was attacked in the parking lot outside Tulalip Resort Casino in Tulalip. In another incident in the month of July 2021, a man from California was sentenced to 33 months in prison for allegedly trying to steal cash from the Ilani Casino in the state at knifepoint as well as the robbery of a local bank.
