Foxwood Casino Unveils a New RV Resort Plan

The casino wants to expand its commercial and entertainment complex in Mashantucket, CT. even further. It wants to have a sprawling recreational campground. In a recent announcement, the casino has announced its plans for the construction of a high-end, resort-like campground.

The casino resort is operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. It is one of the two tribes that is recognized by federal authorities in the state of Connecticut. The other tribe that is recognized by federal authorities in the state is the Mohegan Tribe that operates and owns the Mohegan Sun.

The construction is to be taken with the Blue Water Development (BWD) Company. BWD is a hospitality developer and is based in Maryland. It specializes in campground management. In an interview with Casino.org, Mashantucket Pequot’s communication representatives have stated that the project as envisioned will be a family-oriented project.

The project will be based on land that is owned by the Avery Pond tribe. The project site is located along Route 2 that is located in the town of Preston. BWD and the casino have submitted their plans for the recreational campground to the township officials for approval.

The proposal for the recreational campground is expected to be considered this week at the meeting of the Preston Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission.

In case the required approvals are received by the township officials, the recreational campground would have a number and variety of camping sites. There will also be a pool with splash pads and camping sites. The site would also have volleyball as well as basketball courts. There will also be pavilions as well as a camp store. Utilities required such as electricity, water and bathrooms will also service the campsite.

COVID-19 Impact

Both resorts have suffered financially during the pandemic. Both casinos had to shut down their operations at the height of the pandemic. Net revenue at both casinos decreased by more at least half a billion dollars in the fiscal year of 2020 when compared to the fiscal year of 2019.
