Northern California Casino Completes Expansion

A tribe in Northern California Casino celebrated the conclusion of an expansion project of a casino. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted on Thursday, October 21, 2021. The Paskenta Band that belongs to the Nomlaki Indians Tribe conducted the event in the presence of leaders of Corning and Tehama County.

The event was conducted at The Rolling Hills Casino and Resort that is located 110 miles to the north of Sacramento. The Rolling Hills Casino and Resort is one amongst 66 casinos that are operated by the tribal nations in the state of California. The casinos that are operated by the tribal nations are located in 28 counties out of the 56 counties of the state.

Details regarding the expansion

The multi-million-dollar expansion was started by the tribal leaders through the breaking the ground ceremony in 2019. This had coincided with the 25th anniversary of the recognition of the nation by the federal government.

The expansion of the casino meant an addition of 60,000 square feet to the gaming floor. Another 30,000 square feet was added for event space. The casino floor was increased by 40%. This created an additional room for 10 new table games. A high limit area of 80 high-denomination slot machines will also be made available after the expansion.

Apart from the creation of additional space for additional games, the Rolling Hills expansion project has also included remodeling of the exterior as well as the interior of the casino thoroughly.  Also, the rooms at the resort will be upgraded. Rolling Hills has a combined, lodge as well as an inn facility.

Dining options are also newly available. The resort will include Fatburger, 628 Steakhouse that is an upscale restaurant as well as Rock & Brews that is a sports-themed Center Bar. Paskenta Brewery & Distillery is also set to be opened by the tribal leaders in the near future.

In 1959, the State Government had rescinded the recognition granted to the tribe. The ranch area in California was sold to private parties. It was only 35 years later that the tribe was recognized by the State Government once more to be granted the full status of a tribal community.

The tribal leaders have been concentrating on increasing the numbers of the tribe. The tribe has 240 member nations. A 2,000-acre property in Corning was purchased by the tribe in 2020. A casino is set to open soon.
