The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and LionGrove formally open the door of Foxwoods El San Juan Casino in Puerto Rico to customers following a soft launch last week.

The partnership revealed its intentions to alter the venue in January, with a $12.5 million investment in addition to the hotel’s improvements, which resulted in a total of $137.5 million in resort additions.

On November 17, 2021, Governor Pedro Pierlusi, Mayor of Carolina José Carlos Aponte Dalmau, members of the Tribal Council, Foxwoods President and CEO, local officials, and community residents gathered for a ribbon-cutting. The grand opening ceremony is tentatively scheduled for January 2022.

According to projections, the real-money casino and resort will yield an estimated economic impact of $22m back into the Island of Puerto Rico. More so, the business will open 360 new jobs in the region; more than 150 of those will be at the casino venue.
