IGT, industry-leading slot-maker, receives WLA certification

IGT Reaffirms Its Leadership in Responsible Gaming with World Lottery Association Certification.

IGT secures WLA certification

The World Lottery Association (WLA) has evaluated International Game Technology‘s (IGT) lottery and iLottery operations following its Corporate Social Responsibility Standards and Responsible Gaming Framework for Suppliers.

By supporting a global accreditation program for gaming industry operators and suppliers, the WLA developed responsible gaming standards to help mitigate the impact of problem gambling.

IGT is the world’s largest gaming company. We provide players with enjoyable and responsible gaming experiences across all channels and regulated divisions, ranging from Gaming Machines and Lotteries to Sports Betting and Digital. Our solutions create unmatched gaming experiences that engage players and promote development by leveraging a plethora of appealing content, significant investment in innovation, player insights, operational expertise, and cutting-edge technology. We have a strong local presence and partnerships with governments and regulators in over 100 countries and create value by adhering to the highest standards of service, honesty, and responsibility. IGT employs around 11,000 individuals.

The WLA developed responsible gaming standards to mitigate the impact of problem gambling. They push a global accreditation program for both operators and suppliers in the gaming sector to accomplish this.

A WLA-approved assessor, EY, assessed IGT’s lottery operations. An independent auditor evaluated IGT’s position within the eight components of the WLA standards. IGT continues to follow eight globally adopted guidelines to reaffirm its commitment to responsible and safer gambling. It requires the companies to collaborate with their responsible Gaming Advisory Group, publicly disclose their corporate-wide responsible gaming policy, implement responsible gambling e-learning courses for employees, and continuously adhere to the Code of Principles.

It launched customized employee e-learning courses on responsible gaming and problem gambling, publicly disclosing its corporate-wide responsible gaming policy and continuously updating and adhering to its global advertising and marketing communications code of principles.

It comes on the heels of IGT increasing its full-year outlook in early November, citing a “substantial improvement” in critical financial and performance metrics across core business divisions in the third quarter. Revenue throughout the group grew 21% to $984 million (2020: $816 million), with the firm’s global lottery segment earning the lion’s share of $652 million, up 14% year on year from $570 million. According to IGT, this is due to continuous momentum, which has resulted in a 9% increase in worldwide same-store sales.
