Score Digital Sports Ventures of PNG is now registered in Ontario.

Score Digital Sports Ventures, a subsidiary of Penn National Gaming, is the latest company to announce its intention to enter the newly opened Ontario sports betting regulated market.

Score Digital Sports eyeing Ontario entry

The company highlighted its Canadian ambitions when it obtained registration as an internet gaming operator with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, an approval that John Levy, theScore’s CEO, was “ecstatic” to obtain.

He noted that they are happy to be one of the first operators to get an AGCO certificate of registration as we prepare for Ontario’s new regulated market. He stated in his statement that they have been and will continue to be at the forefront as regulated internet gaming is implemented in Ontario and are delighted to deliver theScore Bet to our home market on April 4. Finally, the countdown has begun to launch.”

theScore Bet was the first potential operator in Ontario to obtain Gaming Labs International certification, demonstrating conformity with the Registrar’s Standards for Internet Gaming, as well as the Responsible Gambling Council’s RG Check iGaming Accreditation. Before April 4, theScore Bet must meet all remaining regulatory requirements and execute an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario.

Quotes from the Press Release

Levy applauded the Ontario government’s “tireless efforts” throughout the process, following confirmation earlier this week from iGaming Ontario of the province’s regulated igaming market’s debut date. “The AGCO and iGaming Ontario have taken a deliberate and collaborative approach to establish and manage this new industry, and the result is a soon-to-be-launched framework that will benefit all Ontarians and establish Ontario as one of the largest and most important regulated gaming markets in North America,” he added.

“On April 4, we will debut theScore Bet in Ontario, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring our best-in-class mobile sports betting and igaming experience to users in our home province.”

Jay Snowden, president, and CEO of Penn National Gaming, also commended the Ontario government earlier this week for its “commitment” to developing a “modern, open, and regulated” sports betting and igaming sector. He said that the team at theScore has been working diligently to prepare for the Ontario market’s opening, which represents a substantial commercial potential,” he remarked.

“As Canada’s top digital sports media brand, theScore is particularly positioned to benefit from Ontario’s open and regulated internet gambling market.” The launch of theScore Bet in Ontario will represent an exciting extension of our online gaming business into a significant new market where we already have a well-established mobile sports media offering in theScore app and a large base of dedicated customers.

“Today’s news is really exciting, and I want to recognize and applaud the Ontario government, the AGCO, and iGaming Ontario for their commitment to establishing a contemporary, open, and regulated sports betting and igaming market.”
