Novibet has voluntarily relinquished its UK license after the betting and gaming company informed consumers that it would cease operations in the country.

On November 1, 2014, the group was granted licenses for real-time sports betting and igaming, which also consists of poker, roulette, blackjack, and other casino games. 

Subsequently, a remote gambling software license and virtual event betting permits were added in 2015 and 2017, respectively, before this year’s edition of the ability to provide bingo games to consumers via a website, applications, mobile, interactive television, or radio.

The online casino and sports betting operator informed customers via an update posted on the Novibet website that they would like to advise them that Novibet would cease operations in the United Kingdom on 21.02.2022. If clients already have moneys in a separate game account, they should withdraw them immediately. or if you have any concerns or require explanations, please contact their customer care team or visit their FAQ page.

 The UK Gambling Commission’s guidance on exiting the market requires businesses to be “fair and open,” with the expectation that firms will “have strategies in place, and to take all necessary actions, to ensure that customers are not disadvantaged needlessly if they close.

After such a determination is made, the regulator expects gambling entities to provide clear information to customers, with communication available through a variety of channels, including direct contact with consumers, notices on the outside of premises (where applicable), and broader messages on social media. Additionally, it states that customers with complaints must be informed of who to contact and that access to an alternative dispute resolution service must be maintained, as well as that efforts must be made to meet all of the company’s obligations, including honoring bets that are due to be settled after closure.
