The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has issued Elys Game Technology’s USBookmaking subsidiary a six-month license to operate a sportsbook at Ocean Casino Resort.

Approval of USBookmaking and Ocean Casino sportsbooks

Elys Game Technology, the parent business of USBookmaking, stated that it has been approved by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to run retail sportsbook operations at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City. The company’s petition–filed jointly with Ocean Casino Resort–has been accepted for six months, subject to the technology used to operate the sportsbook being approved. 

The sportsbook does not appear to have a name other than ‘Sports Betting at Ocean,’ however, there are doubts that this will be their ultimate incarnation. The bookmaking operation will be temporarily relocated while a permanent building is being constructed. In a Tweet made earlier today, Elys announced that the first wager has been placed.

The new facility would ‘combine a great bar, club, and gaming experience with sports betting.’ In a news release issued on January 19, 2022, Ocean announced the facility’s construction: Ocean Casino Resort will break ground on a new facility in March, combining an engaging bar, lounge, and gaming experience with sports betting. Following a $15 million makeover of the casino floor last year, today’s news solidifies Ocean’s status as the East Coast’s leading gaming destination. The $4 million concepts is slated to launch this summer, with trading management services offered in cooperation with USBookmaking, a subsidiary of Elys Game Technology, Corp, subject to regulatory approval by New Jersey’s gaming regulators.

The partnership between Elys Game Technology and US Bookmaking

Elys Game Technology announced the completion of the partnership of US Bookmaking in September 2021. Elys highlighted in the press release announcing the deal’s completion that US Bookmaking was a critical component of their strategy to achieve market share in the US sports betting ecosystem. According to the press statement, US Bookmaking’s operations would continue as usual. In December, they started to take over the Ocean Casino Resort’s sportsbook. Previously, William Hill managed the sportsbook, but with Caesars Entertainment’s acquisition, they appear to be distancing themselves from third-party management. As is the case with several sportsbooks previously operated by William Hill in the United States, all references to the company were removed from the Ocean Casino Resort website well before USBookmaking’s involvement was announced.
