Following her role in assisting an ex-CEO with a gambling addiction squandering around $10 million, Sylvia Ash has been sentenced to 15 months in jail.

While serving as a state judge, Ash also served as the chair of the Municipal Credit Union’s board of directors (MCU). A federal criminal investigation into the company’s misbehavior was launched after she used her position at the non-profit group to hinder it, according to prosecutors. The alleged misbehavior involves Kam Wong, a former CEO of MCU who served as the company’s leader until 2018. From 2007 until his arrest in 2018, Wong stole around $10 million from the MCU. Wong pleaded guilty to the charges in 2019 and is presently serving a 66-month sentence in jail.

In 2018, Ash was served with a subpoena by a Federal Grand Jury
