  • Jake Paul, a social media personality turned boxer, and Joey Levy, the founder of SimpleBet, are behind the newly-formed micro-betting company Betr.
  • It’s a two-pronged assault on the sports betting industry, with one arm concentrating on sports media content and the other on sports betting.
  • The beta version of the Betr mobile app was released in the United States and offers free play.
  • The application will provide real-time micro-betting options. Alongside the app, Betr is also expanding its sports content division.

Live Beta App in the United States

The app provides players with coins for wagering, which can be redeemed for a variety of prizes. Along with the beta launch of the app in the United States, Betr announced on its social media accounts a giveaway of a “Betr Jeep.”

The entry requirements are to download the app and place a micro-bet on whether the first play of the NFL season will be a “run” or a “pass,” with Jake Paul stating “$250,000 is on the line” at the end of the promotional video.

According to reports, Jake Paul and Joey Levy have raised over $50 million to make this concept a reality, with investors including Aliya Capital and Florida Funders, as well as prominent football players such as Dez Bryant, DeSean Jackson, and many others.

Joey Levy will likely focus more on the business side, while Jake Paul will be the public face of the endeavor. It’s important to remember that this is a Jake Paul company, so a significant portion of the budget will likely be spent on developing a long-term growth strategy and acquiring new customers.

The Integration of Sports Content and Micro-Betting

What exactly is micro-betting? It is more akin to live betting on minute details and developments during a game, such as each punch, drive, play, pass, etc., rather than a traditional wager on the final outcome of a sporting event.

Obviously, this is not the first time that micro-betting has entered the sports betting world, but it is a fantastic focal point for the company’s product marketing.

Of course, it also helps when Jake Paul says that he has “single-handedly revived boxing” and that “it’s time to reinvent the sports landscape” with a “Betr” alternative for sports betting. Yes, the name lends itself to a variety of puns, and the people tagging Betr’s Twitter account appear to enjoy it, as every other tweet contains puns involving the name.

Betr’s “sports media content factory” will differ significantly from the majority of sports coverage, it appears. Jake Paul has stated that he wants to disrupt the “uptight professional environment” and instead provide content from a more naturalistic perspective, stating that he wants to “workout” with the athletes and interview them during their workouts in order to provide a unique perspective on “what makes them special.”

If this has piqued your interest, the show will be called the BS Sports Show, but it is much easier to find on YouTube. “BS w/ Jake Paul” is the name of the channel, which boasts more than 2 million subscribers as of this writing.

The beta version of the Betr app is available for free download at betr.app, and our initial impressions of the user interface are that it is significantly more modern-looking and intuitive than one would expect from a beta product. And the modernist motif is also integrated into the user experience, with the product viewing its rivals as “legacy gambling” and “legacy media.”
