Increasing Dedication to Responsible Gambling

The cooperation with AGA’s public service campaign will expand MLB’s responsible gambling initiatives alongside the league’s new Platinum Member designation inside the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPGLeadership )’s Circle, as a result of the league’s expanded partnership with the NCPG.

Both agreements established during the inaugural Responsible Gaming Education Month demonstrated Major League Baseball’s commitment to promoting gaming literacy and consumer education.

AGA senior vice president Casey Clark hailed the partnership with MLB as a “milestone for the campaign and responsible gambling efforts nationwide” and emphasized the league’s awareness of the growing collective commitment to responsibility alongside the expansion of legal sports betting in the United States.

AGA will provide the league with responsible gaming counsel and expertise, including benchmarking and annual training on best practices. MLB will deliver responsible sports betting public service announcements across its digital media channels and select broadcasts and will offer all 30 MLB clubs extended campaign partnership opportunities.

Tools and Resources Necessary for Responsible Gambling

Kenny Gersh, executive vice president of Business Development for Major League Baseball, stated that the league’s commitment to providing its fans with the “tools and resources necessary to bet safely” was increasing in tandem with the legalization of sports betting across the country. Gersh followed by noting that the league will be able to extend its responsible gambling operations to create “new education, awareness, and support service initiatives” and “help keep sports betting safe, interesting, and fun.”

The NCPG’s executive director, Keith Whyte, commended the league’s “continuing commitment to addressing problem gambling” and expressed his organization’s eagerness to assist MLB’s expanding efforts to provide responsible gambling education. Whyte added, “MLB’s tremendous reach will have a substantial influence on raising awareness of the National Problem Gambling Helpline and treatment resources.”

As the first major sports league to join the NCPG in 2005, MLB is currently a Platinum Member of the council’s Leadership Circle, supporting the NCPG’s National Problem Gambling Helpline and other problem gambling-related council activities through all of its media platforms.
