Getting Ahead of the Market Launch

In accordance with House Bill 29, the Ohio Casino Control Commission granted HOFV the authority necessary to get a license for both a land-based sports operation and an online betting platform. This was done in the context of Ohio’s new sports betting law.

When wagering on sports becomes legal in Ohio on New Year’s Day 2023, residents of the state who are of the age to legally place bets will be able to do so.

Michael Crawford, president and chief executive officer of HOFV, stated that the legalization of sports betting in the state of Ohio brings us a breadth of possibilities across all three business verticals of our organization as well as for our fans.

We will be the first physical sportsbook in Stark County, and we will also be the first dedicated sports micro-betting platform via the Betr mobile app. This will give our guests and fans a wide variety of various and innovative ways to enjoy the excitement that sports provide.

HOFV had previously announced 10-year partnerships with Rush Street Interactive (RSI) as its official retail sports-betting partner and with Betr, which was founded by sports betting veteran Joey Levy and media mogul Jake Paul, as its official mobile sports-betting partner. RSI is HOFV’s official retail sports-betting partner.

Improving the Overall Fan Experience in Ohio

The retail sportsbook that HOFV and RSI will operate will be known as “BetRivers Sportsbook,” and it will be situated in the Hall of Fame Village’s Fan Engagement Zone, which is a promenade with a sports and entertainment-themed design.

According to the information provided by the company, the Fan Engagement Zone will provide rooftop views of Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium and will function as an “active center” for people to visit before, during, and after events in order to “have fun,” dine, and interact.

The HOFV/Betr mobile sportsbook will further improve the overall fan experience by providing customers in Ohio with a streamlined option to make their bets online. This will be available to customers everywhere in the state.

According to HOFV, the Betr app takes sports prop betting “to a whole new level” by introducing micro-betting. Micro-betting will enable customers to place bets on practically every moment of every live sporting event “all done simply and instantaneously from the palm of their hand.”
