Facilitating Its Sports Betting Journey in Ohio Market

The company would reportedly make use of the existing lottery technology and infrastructure “to facilitate the sports betting journey for shops and customers throughout the state of Ohio,” as stated in a press release.

According to INTRALOT, the project’s launch is scheduled for January 2023, and there are currently 700 retail locations approved for use. This number is expected to grow to over 1,000 in the coming months.

Contracted for a Five Year Agreement

INTRALOT went on to clarify that it has been granted a temporary license to operate this contract by the Ohio Casino Control Commission and that it anticipates the permanent five-year license to be issued shortly after January 1, 2023.

INTRALOT Significant Milestone to Market

INTRALOT has been providing the state of Ohio with a safe and reliable central gaming system since 2009. This system is responsible for the delivery, management, and accounting of all current in-state and multi-service draw Ohio Lottery games, in addition to other services associated with the lottery.

The casino industry in Ohio is currently seeing growth, and on January 1, 2023, the state is scheduled to allow legalized sports betting. This week, only days before the market went live, Ohio regulators discovered irregularities in November’s broadcast of the Barstool College Football Show from the University of Toledo.

The show allegedly violated the state’s rules prohibiting the marketing of sports gambling to college students. For their participation in this action, the regulatory body now intends to charge Penn Sports Interactive a fine of $250,000.
