Better Understanding of Sports Betting, Especially for Females

The purpose of this study is to obtain a better understanding of the people who watch female sporting events, the types of bets that are placed on female sporting events, the types of women who participate in betting on sports, and the types of sponsorship that are given to women’s sports.

Focus on Women Who Bet on Sports

The goal of the partnership between the academic research center at UNLV known as IGI and the sports betting operator known as Gaming Society is to make betting on women’s sports more accessible, inclusive, and entertaining for sports fans, sports bettors, and sponsors.

However, the primary emphasis of the study will be placed on female gamblers because so little is known about their betting routines, sources of motivation, and perspectives on gambling in general and sports betting in particular.

This information will not only assist the sports betting business in better targeting and engaging more female sports fans, but it will also help better comprehend female gamblers.

In addition, as part of this relationship, the Gaming Society and IGI will continue to develop and broaden their teaching programs on the subject of responsible gambling.

One of the things that they plan to do is work on expanding and bettering the Gaming Society’s Betting Academy 101 as part of one of their projects.

Giving Better and New Opportunities with New Technologies

These educational initiatives will aim to not only keep bettors up to date on the latest developments in the industry but also to help them better understand the new opportunities that new technologies provide in the sector, as well as the many challenges that come along with innovative advancements.

Additionally, as a result of the partnership, a mentor program consisting of UNLV students and experts from the sports betting industry will be developed. This program will provide students with the opportunity to begin a career in the aforementioned industry.

Excited About the Partnership

Both the Gaming Society and the IGI have, as one would expect, voiced their enthusiasm for the new relationship. Research on female sports betting is important, according to Nancy Lough, Co-Director of Sports Research and Innovation at UNLV.

She said, “Advancement of women’s sports business hinges on an appreciation of the value women’s sport gives to fans and sponsors.” We will work together to raise awareness of the great commercial potential in women’s sports, while simultaneously positioning UNLV’s IGI and the Gaming Society as the premier source for thought leadership and workforce development.

For his part, Brett Abarbanel, Executive Director of IGI, emphasized the significance of the educational initiatives that will be a part of the relationship and how important they will be. Abarbanel went on to emphasize that the research would play an important role in determining how the promotion and development of female sports might benefit from the use of sports betting.

Jaymee Messler, who is also the co-founder of Gaming Society, expressed her excitement about the partnership, stating that analytical research and data collection are the only ways that innovation in the sports betting business can be fostered. He went on to add that the research that was undertaken in collaboration with IGI, the results of which would be made public by the end of this year, is going to assist sports teams, sports leagues, and team sponsors in gaining a better understanding of their fan base.
