The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has given its approval for 888’s VHL Michigan subsidiary to become the Hannahville tribe’s new platform provider, operating under the Sports Illustrated online sports betting brand.

888’s S.I Sportsbook Takes Over from TwinSpires in Michigan

The Hannahville Indian Community’s tribe has entered into an agreement with 888 Holdings as a result of the announcement made by TwinSpires, its previous platform provider for online gaming and sports betting, that it would leave the deal in 2022.

TwinSpires will no longer be a part of the agreement after that year. As a consequence of this, the gaming and betting division of Churchill Downs is no longer participating in providing any form of online gaming or internet sports betting services to residents of the state of Michigan.

Henry Williams, executive director of MGCG, stated that the Hannahville community was the first operator in the United States to switch its platform provider after the legalization of online gambling.

This information was provided by Williams. He also commended 888 Holding’s capacity to use its years of experience to foster the expansion of the tribe’s presence on the internet.

Because TwinSpire is no longer involved in the industry, 888 Holdings’ VHL Michigan LLC has taken over as the tribe’s new online sports betting operator as of September 7, 2022.
