The second phase of the Maryland reopening plan will begin at 5 pm on Monday. The second phase will also be applicable to Prince George Country where an MGM casino is ready to reopen.

Which businesses will reopen?

When the second phase kicks in, gyms, shopping malls, and casinos will be allowed to reopen. This is the first time that these commercial establishments reopen after they were shut down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. The state will also allow farmer’s markets, some personal service providers like tattoo parlors, massage parlors, spas, and recreational venues like amusement parks and bowling alleys to reopen.

Phase 2 of reopening will also allow larger gatherings in the region. It would allow groups of up to 100 people to gather. However, it would depend on the size of the facility. The state guidelines do not allow more than 1 person or a family unit for every 200 square feet of space.

MGM National Harbor to reopen

MGM National Harbor plans to reopen its facility on Monday at 6 am. It would follow enhanced cleaning, sanitizing, and health guidelines to keep the staff and clients safe. All visitors will have to undergo a screening process and must follow social distancing rules as well. The guests will also get their temperature checks right at the entrance of the casino door. The company will also provide free masks to the people. It would be made compulsory for guests as well as employees in public areas.

The casino will now have only 1,600 slot machines available as every alternate machine will be shut down to maintain social distancing norms. It has decided not to open poker rooms for users yet. Gaming tables will also come with barriers.

Other recreational establishments in the state will also be hosting guests with only 50% capacity. Personal service providers and outdoor pools must make appointments with customers to provide the services. High touch surfaces are also expected to be cleaned regularly.
