December 2020 Post Views: 145 FanDuel launched its WV online sports betting in the state yet again, working with OpenBet from Scientific Games. West Virginia will become the first state to launch on the OpenBet platform after its parent company Flutter announced its shift to the technology. Revamping its operations FanDuel has been running a sportsbook in the state since 2019. However, its new offering is revamped via a partnership with Scientific Games. It was earlier working with International Game Technology (IGT)’s PlaySports solution for sports betting. It used GAN’s solution for online casino. OpenBet is currently being used to power other sports betting platforms in different regions like Sportsbet in Australia and Paddy Power and Sky Bet in Europe. The relaunch comes shortly after Flutter announced its integration of The Stars Group business which will witness all sports betting brands migrating to OpenBet. The solution was already deployed at Paddy Power Betfair. The Stars Group’s BetStars and Fox Bet sportsbooks which have been using Amelco’s solutions since 2015 will continue working on the platform. Seamless betting experience FanDuel CEO Matt King commented on the relaunch and said, “Our global sports betting platform will offer customers an unrivaled betting experience and will cement FanDuel’s place as America’s number one sportsbook.” Group chief executive of SG Digital, Jordan Levin said that working with FanDuel and going live is a landmark moment for the company. He called OpenSports technology a game-changer for FanDuel and said that it will introduce their customers to a new way to wager on sports. Flutter recently increase its stake in FanDuel and announced the details of its new share issue. The launch will raise £1.1 billion for the firm. Goldman Sachs International and J&E Davy have placed eight million new ordinary shares at the price of 14,000 pence per share.
