Microgaming strengthens supports for Responsible Gaming charities

Microgaming vows to reinforce its support for responsible gaming charities and campaigns aimed at addressing gambling-related harm.

Microgaming: Support for Responsible Gaming

What’s the deal?

Microgaming on Wednesday, November 3, released a statement expressing its intention to sponsor or finance more responsible gaming charities as part of their Microgaming PlayItForward social responsibility program.

After playing a prominent role in the recently concluded Safer Gaming Week, the Isla of Man-headquartered company said it is taking its Microgaming PlayItForward program to the next level.

Microgaming intends to increase its involvement in creating a healthy and protected gaming environment moving forward after a momentous 2021 that saw the company working with several foundations and groups striving to create a safer and healthier gaming environment for bettors.

The Recipients

One of the beneficiaries of the Microgaming PlayItForward social responsibility program is Betknowmore UK, a UK charity that aims to help people recover from gambling addiction. This organization has received funding from the company to cover the cost of a year-long trial for weekly peer-led group therapy specifically for women.

Gordon Moody also received support from Microgaming for the second straight year. Like Betknownmore UK, the said organization is helping people take back control of their lives from gambling through therapies and counseling. It has already allocated the funding to its comfort fund, which provides financial aid to the families of those under the charity’s watch. The group will also use the remainder of the funding to buy furniture for its women’s outreach project.

Furthermore, Microgaming has also backed gaming and gambling projects for Isle of Man-based company Motiv8 IOM, GamCare’s National Helpline; and mental health charities such as Beacon Counselling Trust and the Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust.

Microgaming is committed to supporting a wide range of local and international community projects via its PlayItForward program with solid adherence to people, place, and planet.

Quotes from the Press Release

John Coleman, CEO at Microgaming, said: “We’re proudly standing in solidarity with all areas of our industry to support the Safer Gambling Week initiative, with a calendar of events to promote the Responsible Gambling message across our business.

“Of course, it’s a conversation our industry should be having all year around, and one which we are committed to being a part of. I’m proud we have been able to support the invaluable work of a range of gambling-related research, education and treatment charities throughout 2021.”

Frankie Graham, founder and CEO at Betknowmore UK, added: “The collaboration between Microgaming PlayItForward and Betknowmore UK has enabled the development and delivery of new research and support activities that address the theme of women and gambling harms. It is an under-resourced area and, quite rightly, now the recipient of increased investment.”
