TalkBanStop campaign receives additional money for another year

The TalkBanStop initiative has been granted further funding for one year and will thus continue to provide free tools and help to those battling gambling.

More on TalkBanStop Campaign

The partnership, which brings together GamCare, Gamban, and Gamstop, received additional funding as part of a regulatory settlement approved by the Gambling Commission, which extends the collaboration and evaluation until March 2023.

The trio says this will provide free Gamban blocking software licenses and promote accessible free practical tools and support. GamCare, Gamban, and Gamstop will continue to raise awareness and share best practices to improve the unified provision of accessible, free access to all three services.

TalkBanStop brings together practical, free tools and assistance with the intention of assisting anyone hurt by casino and sports betting in maintaining a successful recovery. It combines personal help from certified GamCare advisers with free access to Gamban blocking software and signposting to the Gamstop self-exclusion scheme, as well as signposting to promote the stacking of tools and support across all three websites.

GamCare, Gamban, and Gamstop further state that they will seek more long-term funding for the cooperation. Since the pilot began, the relationship has resulted in the registration of nearly 7,000 users of Gamban’s blocking software.

Quotes from the Press Release

According to Anna Hemmings, CEO of GamCare, “TalkBanStop is a partnership that makes a lot of sense for anyone damaged by online gambling, and a good example of organizations banding together to provide critical initial steps for those seeking to stop gambling.”

“Since the cooperation began, there has been a tremendous value in pooling our organizations’ expertise and developing a service that people can use quickly and for free to jumpstart their recovery.

“We’ve heard from individuals assisted by TalkBanStop how the cumulative effect of our interventions can enhance the impact on their recovery. That is why there must be no interruption in the free availability of all three support layers. Going forward, we intend to build on our accomplishments from the previous year and work toward our shared goal of eliminating gambling-related harms.”
