The importance of transparency in events cannot be overstated

BETER aims to raise the integrity bar for each of its popular live events by implementing a variety of policies that have been developed in accordance with the International Olympic Committee and the sports federations that govern the Setka Cup and EsportsBattle, as well as a common policy that can be applied to any other tournament organizer.

In a statement, Andrii Nerkutov, BETER’s chief integrity officer, stated that the “principles of fair play” and the integrity of tournaments are at the heart of the company’s operations and that the company is constantly looking for ways to improve its integrity policy and ensure the “safety” of its community.

They consider the integration of our new processes and systems as an additional layer of integrity on behalf of our operator partners, guaranteeing that they may have complete faith in the transparency of all live events delivered by BETER and their affiliates.

The use of in-house IT solutions and a chatbot to safeguard the safety of tournament players and to enable the anonymous reporting of any suspicious behavior is encouraged.

Implications for the Future

The new measures, which were developed by Nekrutov, who joined BETER in 2021 and has played a key role in raising the company’s industry credentials, address four areas where the integrity of tournaments and events can be improved: detection of suspicious behavior, awareness-building campaigns, intelligence-led investigation, and compliance with local sports integrity legislation.

In order to facilitate the consistent exchange of information on unfair play issues with its partners, BETER will establish an integrity operation center, while an in-house team working around the clock will leverage the company’s technology to provide a holistic analysis of suspicious events occurring in-play as part of its fraud detection service.

In terms of raising awareness campaigns, BETER will employ a variety of methods, including e-learning, training, the establishment of a whistleblower platform, the implementation of pre-employment checks on personnel and tournament participants, as well as the establishment of an Ethics Committee to promote the standards and collaborate with sports federations, among other things.

The BETER system will initiate investigations in cases where suspicious behavior has been observed, working in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and judicial authorities, and all integrity-related intelligence will be stored in an Integrity Incident Database, which will be accessible by the public. BETER will constantly monitor and assess current regulatory frameworks in light of international sports practices to guarantee compliance with each event organizer’s home country’s sports integrity legislation. BETER will constantly examine and assess current regulatory frameworks in light of worldwide sports practices.
