Bay Mills Resort & Casino (BMRC), a waterfront casino in Michigan, has announced that it will undertake a $65 million expansion project next spring. 

The new project will produce additional employment and revenue opportunities for Michigan residents, as well as new tourist amenities and space.

New Services for Guests and Employees

The proposed three-story waterfront resort will feature an extra 134 balconied rooms.

The president of Bay Mills Indian Community (BMIC), Whitney Gravelle, noted that BMIC has been a trailblazer in Indian Country. She stated that BMIC would continue to expand and become a premier destination in the Upper Peninsula as a result of this expansion project. Gravelle shared her satisfaction with the team and the tribal country for this achievement.

On the other hand, according to Richard LeBlanc, general manager of BMRC, BMRC is a popular and beloved tourist site. He also added that with this $65 million expansion project, BMRC would be able to better address the demands of its customers and provide them with a “unique Lake Superior experience.”

This winter, BMIC will solicit bids for the expansion project, with intentions to break ground the following spring and finish the new waterfront resort by the end of 2023. The architect for the project’s extension is DSGW Architects.

Collaboration of BMRC and DraftKings

In June 2022, BMRC and DraftKings agreed into a collaboration agreement for the opening of a temporary retail sportsbook in BMRC in October 2022. The mobile and internet sportsbook of DraftKings will include sports betting, live sporting events, and game play. 

BMRC was established in 1995 and employs about 200 individuals. It features more than 600 slot machines, 143 hotel rooms, multiple restaurants, eight table games, a golf course, a casino gift shop, 124 RV sites, and 18-hole championship golf.

BMRC is owned by BMIC and is situated on Lakeshore Drive in Brimley, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula. BMRC borders the Hiawatha National Forest and is located near Pt. Iroquois Lighthouse, Tahquamenon Falls, and Soo Locks, among other beaches and snowmobile routes.
