Rush Street Interactive Gets Nod to Operate In Canada

Rush Street Interactive, the gaming operator, received clearance from Canada’s state regulatory board, The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). This now grants the iGaming Operator the registration facility and the rights to operate in the state.

In August 2021, Canada passed the Safe and Regulated Sports Betting Act to launch the regulatory system for single-game sports betting at the level of provinces.

Rush Street Interactive (RSI) has been active in this state by providing a range of free-to-play games in Ontario thus far. This operator is part of competing companies seeking to gain a foothold in one of the largest provinces of Canada.

Online gaming Launch is a deadline to beat

In April, private operators will launch operations, and RSI hopes to have a head-start in its operations. The company, in a statement, reported that RSI plans to satisfy all remaining regulatory requirements and launch its award-winning BetRivers online casino and sportsbook in Ontario on April 4, 2022, the first day online gaming will be authorized in the province,”

RSI currently offers two brands – BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse brands, accessible on mobile and retail businesses. These are available in Colorado, Iowa, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

RSI will focus on expansion and will have operations in three countries. Apart from Canada, it will be part of US and Colombia betting market scenes.

Further Expansion

RSI will be further moving into newer markets such as Mexico by forging new partnerships with Grupo Multimedios, the gaming company.

Analysts predict that “RSI can reach five percent to 10 percent market share in Mexico.” This will allow the company to increase revenue from $20 million to $40 million and complement $40 million in Colombia.

Thus, RSI will provide the much-needed market environment for more vigorous sports wagering in Latin America.

RSI expansion began with several investments with mobile game developers such as Boom Entertainment to have a presence in places such as New Mexico and Mississippi.

But Canada is its most attractive market. The North American iGaming and sports betting scenario is the biggest and will offer a wide range of options for operators.
