The 37th Person to Be Added to the Black Book of the Nevada Gaming Control Board

The Las Vegas Review-Journal stated that Leonard Morgan Hairston has been nominated by the Nevada Gaming Control Board to become the 37th member on the List of Excluded Persons. 

The nomination is contingent upon Nevada Gaming Commission approval, which will likely occur at the end of October or the beginning of November. Hairston is a repeat criminal who has been arrested 34 times for various offenses, the most of which involve fraud with counterfeit casino chips.

Brittnie Watkins, a member of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, noted that it was simple to place Hairston on the List of Excluded Persons due to the fact that his activities are directly related to gambling and are affecting the Nevada casino business.

2004 is one example of Hairston’s numerous transgressions. In December of that year, Hairston successfully cashed out two counterfeit casino chips at the Fremont, which the cashier discovered to be false the next day. 

A few days later, he attempted the identical scheme at Fitzgeralds, but the cashier was not so easily duped and alerted security. When Hairston was apprehended, he was carrying two counterfeit $100 Hard Rock Hotel chips in addition to counterfeit $100 chips from Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, and Luxor.

John Michela, deputy attorney general, cited Hairston’s extensive criminal history as one of the primary grounds for his inclusion on the list.

Hairston is the Black Book’s second new entry in the past three months

Hairston is a more likely candidate for the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s Black Book than the Board’s August-approved previous nomination.

Kendric Laronte Weatherspoon was placed to the List of Excluded Persons because he was involved in sex trafficking in Las Vegas casinos. He was the first person who was neither affiliated with the mafia nor had committed a gambling-related crime. 

Due of the indirect relationship between Weatherspoon and the Nevada casino business, the Nevada Gaming Commission found it impossible to reach a conclusion.

However, the hiring of Weatherspoon echoes the resolve of Nevada’s the United States Attorney Jason Frierson’s office to combat human trafficking in the state.
