Allwyn Enters the U.S. Market by Acquiring Camelot LS Group

Allwyn

Allwyn, the winner of the Fourth UK National Lottery bid, and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, the current operator of the UK National Lottery, announced a deal to acquire the Camelot Lottery Solutions group of firms for an unknown sum.

The acquisition of Chicago-based Camelot LS Group enables Allwyn to enter the US lottery industry since the group has long-term agreements to operate the Illinois Lottery as a private manager through its subsidiary Camelot Illinois LLC and to strengthen the operations of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.

Valuing Clients and Increasing Lottery Returns in US Market

Robert Chvátal, the chief executive officer of Allwyn, stated in a press release that the company has always seen the U.S. market as an integral component of its future growth strategy and that the acquisition of Camelot LS Group is the proper move.

Chvátal remarked that “both Allwyn and Camelot have a love for the lottery business” and are dedicated to offering “value to their clients and increasing lottery returns to communities.”

In addition to operating the Illinois Lottery and partnering with the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, Camelot LS Group’s technology division offers products and services to lottery operators and players in Europe and North America. It is a subsidiary of Camelot UK, which the Czech-based lottery firm will also acquire.

The Business Objectives Have Not Changed

Wayne Pickup, the chief executive officer of Camelot LS Group, stated the company’s goal to “serve its clients, engage players, and grow lottery revenue” in order to help the communities where the lotteries operate.

As manager of the Illinois Lottery, the company has established close ties with the Department of Lottery, collaborating “to drive responsible and sustainable growth to maximize state revenue,” and he is confident that “combining the resources, expertise, and talent of Allwyn and Camelot LS Group” will be beneficial for all parties.

Continuing to Serve and Expand its Lottery Partners

Allwyn indicated that the Camelot LS Group executive team will remain unaltered following the completion of the deal, and the business will continue to serve its lottery partners, bolstered by Allwyn’s decade-long expertise in administering and enhancing lotteries across Europe.

Camelot LS Group will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Allwyn at the closure of the deal, which is expected to occur in the first quarter of 2023, subject to the satisfaction of standard closing conditions. This deal will expand Allwyn’s existing lottery activities in Austria, the Czech Republic, Greece, Cyprus, and Italy.
