Wild Rose Casino Reopens for Guests After 2 Month Long Shutdown

Clinton’s Wild Rose Casino and Resort finally reopened for guests this month after staying shut down for 2 months. The property is experiencing a fresh influx of players.

Shutting down two months ago

The casino was closed for more than two months after Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation for shutting down all businesses throughout the state. The decision came after the coronavirus started gripping the US and authorities rushed to reduce the impact of the pandemic. As the shutdown continued for weeks, it was unclear when the casino would be able to reopen. However, in mid-May, casinos were allowed to reopen alongside a few other businesses.

Wild Rose welcomed its guests with slot machines in the beginning and started table game plays a week ago. The casino’s assistant general manager Leah Garcia said that the casino has been gaining business continuously after the casino was reopened. She said, “We have been fairly busy in the casino. We are up slightly from last year’s June numbers. It seems that it has never been overwhelming but very steady throughout the week.”

Things are returning to normal

Garcia said that the casino is returning to normal as time passes by. She noted that the casino is proactively ensuring that all its employees maintain social distancing and that everything is clean. This will help people enjoy themselves while feeling safe at the property. She said that the casino has kept limited seating for table games and the pit has also been expanded. This will ensure that there is enough area between the tables. The casino also focuses on cleaning the table and chairs when people leave them.

All guests are being asked to use hand sanitizers and wipes. The casino does not mandate face masks and coverings but encourages people to use them. She also said that people are happy to get out of their homes and return to the casinos. This suggests that people are more comfortable going out and visiting public places now. She is also expecting the casino to have a busy day on Saturday when the first of the Triple Crown Races, The Belmont Race, begins.

All indoor concerns remain suspended at the casino.
