MLB Creates Its First Latin American Partnership with Betcris

Betrics, a sportsbook based in Costa Rica recently became the first-ever Latin American wagering partner for the MLB. On Friday, the company announced a multi-year deal that will help it become an official wagering partner for Major League Baseball.

An important market for MLB

The Latin American market is very crucial for the state. Under the terms of the new agreement, Betcris will be receiving the right to use official data from the league. It will also be able to use logos and other markings of the MLB across the wagering outlets. MLB will also be promoting the sportsbooks during its key league events, like the postseason games in Latin American nations where it holds licenses.

JD Duarte, the CEO of Betcris released a statement and said,

“This partnership will strengthen Betcris’ position in the gaming industry by allowing us to cover all the action in the field, and it could not come at a better time. We share a vision with MLB to deliver fun and exciting content to our audiences, and that starts with the 2020 season.”

The new partnership will also allow the company to develop a new free-to-play mobile app as well. The partnership could help propel Betcris forward as about 25% of the MLB players come via Latin American countries like Curacao, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic. Betcris is not yet licensed to operate in any US state.

MLB making several new partnerships

The MLB is busy creating several new partnerships apart from Betcris. The league has seven other partnerships ongoing. One of the most recent ones was with theScore. The mobile app is operating in New Jersey and will soon roll out in states like Colorado and Indiana as well. It has other authorized betting operators as well, which include the likes of FanDuel, BetMGM, Bet365, DraftKings, FOX Bet, and Intralot.

In a statement, MLB’s executive vice president Kenny Gersh said that the league is looking to find the right partners that could engage its most loyal fanbase. He said that Betcris has offered great services to its users in recent years. He applauded the firm’s efforts and said that the experience will only improve as MLB gets more engagement opportunities with its fans in Latin America.
