December 2020 Post Views: 82 Swedish iGaming solutions supplier Yggdrasil recently signed a new game IP licensing agreement with Veikkaus, the Finnish state owners betting agency. This agreement will bring Yggdrasil casinos content to the retail sector. What does the agreement include? The agreement includes the Cherry AB subsidiary repurposing its slot content for the retail segment of the Finnish platform’s proprietary video lottery terminals (VLTs). Veikkaus vice president for casino games Jan Hagelberg commented on the partnership and said, “While known for being an operator that delivers top-notch player protection ecosystem and a full portfolio of casino, betting and lottery games in all channels, Veikkaus is also a technology company with fully integrated proprietary gaming platform and product suite with integrated omnichannel solution.” He added that the retail segment has only comprised of their VLT terminals but the platform is now ready to host a different technical pipeline for trusted online partners as well as 3rd party studios to bring their content for retail customers. He praised Yggdrasil and said that the innovative content, technical ability, and their capacity to deliver content swiftly to the users were a few of the reasons why they were chosen as the first partner to pilot this program. He also said that the platform is excited to bring a strong partnership forward to the users. When will the new games be available? The first batch of retail games from Yggdrasil will be available in Finland across its retail-network by mid-2021. The new games will be 100% compliant with the Finnish regulatory requirements. Veikkaus has a monopoly in Finland and Yggdrasil’s supply deal will be applicable to the platform’s online channel. Its gross gaming revenue (GGR) for 2019 was 1,691 million euros. Chief of global market operations at Yggdrasil, Bjorn Krantz said that they are delighted to work with Veikkaus for the retail sector. Their newly expanded partnership with the Finnish firm fits in with the company’s own omnichannel strategy which helps them in effectively scaling up the business operations, improve the total player value, and work on content familiarization.
