Activity on the rise The CEO of DraftKings, Jason Robins commented on the Super Bowl and said that his platform is marking increasing activity in the run-up to the big event. According to the American Gaming Association (AGA), the event is expected to bring about $4.3 billion in wagers as Kansas City Chiefs play against Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The Chiefs won the LIV and are now looking to win their second consecutive title. Robins also supported the AGA’s expectations from the game and said that more people have started betting online. He said that about two-thirds of all bettors are expected to place their bets remotely. DraftKings had a successful year despite the pandemic as a new audience was engaged to their platform. Robins said, “It’s been a really amazing year for us from a customer acquisition perspective. Engagement of customers and retention rates have been higher than we’ve ever seen before.” He added that while competitors struggled because of suspension of professional and college sports, DraftKings only strengthened its position. What is the NFL looking like? According to Robins, about 60% of the total handle favors Tampa Bay Buccaneers which is close to the prediction by AGA. The firm’s free-to-play tool, which is available in both Canada and the US, has reached $55 million. One person will get to win the top prize of $1 million. Others will also get something in wins, including some lucky winners who could win up to $25,000. More than 600,000 people have already signed up for the offering. 12 states in America have fully authorized sports betting while nine others are inching closer to favorable legislation.
