BK8 returns to English football via Huddersfield deal

BK8 has been named Huddersfield Town’s exclusive global betting partner for the 2021/22 season. The collaboration will see the company’s logo appear on various Championship clubs’ assets, including matchday perimeter board advertising and non-matchday training jerseys.

BK8 – Huddersfield Deal

The relationship with Huddersfield marks BK8’s return to English football following a three-day stint with Norwich City earlier this year. The online gambling company was named the Premier League club’s principal partner, but fan outrage began almost immediately due to controversial social media posts.

BK8 re-entered European football two months later, when it announced a relationship with five La Liga Santander clubs in Spain, becoming the Asian betting partner of Valencia CF, Athletic Club, Villarreal CF RCD Mallorca, and Elche CF for the 2021-22 La Liga season.

“We are overjoyed to have been chosen as Huddersfield Town’s official global betting partner, and we are overjoyed that they have recognized the good adjustments we have made as a brand in recent months to enable this,” commented Michael Gatt, BK8’s European managing director.

“We intend to collaborate with Huddersfield on grassroots activation in the coming months.”

BK8, founded in 2014 and been mainly focused on the Asian market, has announced that it is now looking to expand into new markets.

Mark Devlin, Huddersfield Town’s chief executive, remarked of the collaboration with BK8: “We spent a lot of time chatting with BK8 to understand their principles. We’ve gotten to know the BK8 central team and their vision for the company.

“BK8 have made several excellent strides in recent months, as evidenced by their engagement with former England footballer Kelly Smith and her charity. We’re convinced they’ve done responsibly and will continue to support grassroots football. As a result, we are pleased to join into this cooperation with BK8, which has the potential to grow significantly in the future years.”

Salauddin Sinnakandu, CEO of Outlast Sports, who facilitated the relationship, added: “Following our La Liga and Kelly Smith activations, this deal represents the brand’s next step of engagement in the UK football market.” In the following months, the focus will be on being a part of that community, particularly in Europe and Asia.”
