The state of Michigan has been given the go-ahead to become a member of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement. As a result of this arrangement, Michigan poker players who play through one of the regulated operators will be able to compete against competitors from other states that are also parties to the accord.

The Fourth US State in the Agreement

The Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement currently encompasses four states in total, namely Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, and Michigan, as part of its current scope. In 2014, two Assembly Bills in Nevada were passed, resulting in the establishment of the organization. Following that, the states of Nevada and Delaware began pooling liquidity among online gaming companies.

It was later approved by the Multi-State Internet Gaming Association, which is based in Delaware and regulates online gaming in many states. It was announced in 2017 that New Jersey would become the third state to join the pact. As a result of the passage of Senate Bill 911 in January 2021, Michigan has laid the groundwork for its participation in the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement. It allowed for the cross-border sharing of information and gaming data, allowing Michigan to share online poker liquidity with other states while remaining within the borders of the state.

With the addition of the Great Lakes State to the agreement, its poker players will now be able to freely compete against opponents from Delaware, Nevada, and New Jersey, among other states.
